Instead of turning the clocks forward, should've turned the calendar back
to January. My god. Started late out of Albany at 7am. Parked at Bear
Mtn lot at 915. After waiting around for a little while and meeting up
with the same pack I skied with out in Colorado a few weeks ago, we skied
from 10am to closing at 4 non-stop. It was just that good.

Sunny skies, temps in the upper 20's, a little windy, but the wind just
threw more snow into the woods. Skied 5 runs in Julio Fusion Zone or
actually skiers left of it, which had no right being knee deep and that
light 'n dry on April 6th. With the group I was skiing with I discovered a
lot of not-on-the-map shots. Anarchy was the name of one, I think, and it
was just billowing powder bumps and slots through the woods. We did a run
down Bears A$$ which was pretty cool. It was pretty much a crack through
the woods that was not even a ski length wide; required very quick feet.
About a third of the way down there was a mandatory 8 footer which was
interesting to say the least. Then it opened up into a beautiful birch
glade that was spaced perfectly. Apparently all the snow that was on the
ground had fallen in the past 3 days. Unreal, it was at least 24 inches
deep.

Any bump run was awesome with light, dry, January-like pow sprinkled all
over. Every bump I hit on some runs would just explode with snow riding up
onto my chest. Guys who were there on Saturday morning said it was exactly
like that, except instead of hitting your chest it was blinding you.

Skied a few runs down Outer Limit woods and called it a day. I had one of
those moments on one of those last runs, where time seems to stand still.
It was a little 10 turn slot with a small 5 foot boulder to pop off of. I
just started floating turns with snow riding up around my waist, popped off
the rock, landed in a drift up to my thighs, felt light wisps of pow on my
face, and then continued banking turns in a little gully. It probably
didn't look all that special but it felt it.

Sad thing is this is my last free weekend till early May. So I've got
about 4 weeks off, but what a way to end it.

I'd recommend the snow in Central VT to anyone right now.

-Scott
