It has been a quiet week on FTO, so it is the perfect time to post these as promised. These are the last interesting pics from Killington. The previous pictures were from the pre-Superstar period. These pics are Superstar in June 1992 and 97.
*** JUNE 1ST 1992 ***
My first day of June skiing in the East. This was the first year Kiilington made it to June since they moved the spring skiing to Superstar four years before.
As you can see, it was a beautiful day - foggy and rain. There was alot of snow left. On June 1st, 1993... the weather was the same, but a bit colder and almost no snow left. The t-shirt they gave for the June1st 93 Fun Slalom had a big sun - funny with the weather that day. The Fun Slalom only had a few gates that the end of the final pitch. There was mostly walking on Superstar that day, not like 1992.

So, here is Superstar from the edge of the parking lot.
*** JUNE 11th 1992 ***
Skiing on my birthday. What a beautiful day. A quiet weekday. I did a day trip alone from Montreal that day.

A very green Skye and Killington Peaks from Rams Head parking lot. The only snow is on Superstar and a very small patch on Ovation. There wasn't any snow on the trails on the left of Superstar (picture not posted).

Almost there, just a few more feet.

Just a short walk at the top of the Headwall.
<IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/8/2581.jpg" ALT="k1trail">
Wow, Superstar. What amazing condition. No walking required except on and off the lift. <
<IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/8/2582.jpg" ALT="k1trail">
Just before the bottom pitch. Notice the number of cars parked at the bottom. It was a weekday in mid-june after all.

Bottom part of Superstar and end of the snow. Funny how much snow melted in 10 days.
*** JUNE 15th, 1997 ***
Killington made it to June every year between 1992 and 1997. I have skied on June 1st on all those year. 1992 and 1997 were definately the best, these two years are also the only two weeks where K made it to my bday. In 1997, I skied the weekend after my bday - I couldn't make it midweek, because of work and I lived in Ottawa. But I made Sunday June 1st even if I finished working at 8pm on the Saturday and that Monday was a big day at work. There was Federal Election in Canada on June 2nd and I am an employee of Elections Canada. Worked from 8am to 3am that day.
I am posting only two pics. These were taken with a wide angle lense.

Bottom part of Superstar and Killington Peak Double.

The walk back to the lift. There was still some snow left to reach the lift on June 15. What a difference with the last few years. Killington closed the following Sunday that year - June 22!!! <
The next pictures that I am thinking of posting is Sunday River's Whiteheat on May 27 1994.
