Finally made my first trip to the mountain yesterday. A bit cloudy and cool, but good snowmaking temps, and small crowds ( more crowded than a monday of olde...). The weatherman claimed an overnight lows in the low singles, but it seemed closer to 20 by the time I got there. My favorite parking spot was still open at 9:15... so not too bad crowds.
Snowded quad, poma, and glades triple served some fairly firm cordoruoy in the AM. Race training on that center trail (highline?). Bunny buster was about the worst of the day... pretty scratchy without too many substantial piles... not horrible though. Glades had more loose snow lying around... great line of soft deep stuff right under the lift.
Superstar and gondola also running. Guns were blazing on lower skylark, and the temps were cool enough so you could run the gauntlet and still see out of your goggles. Killingtom makes good snow. Staying low and towards the guns, there was really soft fresh lines - getting filled in every couple runs. Great fun bumps, but a very irregular line for the purists.
They were also blowing on upper superstar. The place is white overall, but plenty of grass showing through the thus-far-natural trails.
Had about an inch as I left for home @5:00pm.
