Le Massif Cancels Season Due to Strike

Could this be a hardball negotiating ploy or is a season cancellation like toothpaste and can't be put back in the proverbial tube? In case you forgot what the stunning views from this ski area look like, here's my March 2010 report, the last one posted on FTO! 🤠

That's a shame.

This is not a wealthy area of Quebec, and it needs the tourism. Especially the new Club Med!

How many employees work at Le Massif versus those impacted in the entire 15-30-mile region that depends on tourism?

By U.S. standards, it's at least middle class but as I recall, yes, a large percentage of the economy is at least tourism-adjacent. Daniel Gauthier -- who made his fortune with Cirque du Soleil and purchased the struggling ski area 20+ years ago -- still owns Le Massif and as far as I know is not regarded as a Mr. Burns-style evil corporate owner. I accidentally ended up at a press conference that he hosted during that 2010 visit.

@Patrick, can you fact check my armchair recollections ^^ and provide more info?
