Love Mikaela Schiffrin and her Slalom wins, but Downhill is the beast, and there is no one better than Lindsey Vonn. And now a comeback at 40+.

Just simply amazing! A total GOAT. And Cortina is her favorite course for the Olympics.

The American Alpine legend, at 41, became the oldest woman to win a World Cup race, taking the top spot Friday in St. Moritz, Switzerland, in the first downhill race of a season that is building toward the 2026 Olympics.

I watched the replay on YouTube. Fantastic run and she looked great skiing. Quite amazing considering her age (41) and the fact she has been out of competitive ski racing for 5 years and has had numerous surgeries, including a complete re-build of her knee. It would be unbelievable if she could compete for the gold medal at the Olympics.

Lindsey was a full second ahead of the field. Assume almost any race could be hers this year.

I saw an interview with her last year, and she said she had lost 10-15 lbs of likely muscle now at 40.

A medal would be fantastic for her.

Yea, it's a remarkable athletic achievement, especially in a sport where most athletes are completely banged up and finished with competitive skiing in their late 20's to early 30's. Let's hope she doesn't suffer any injuries and can continue to ski well. I'd be rooting for her to win the gold medal. (I don't know if she is planning to race in the Super G or GS?)

Lindsay finished second today in the second St. Moritz downhill, .24 seconds behind the 22-year old German skier, Emma Aicher. Obviously, not as good as another win, but still a great run for Lindsay. Maybe she CAN dominate in the speed races this season.
