Much to my suprise and delight, Tues PM Rain seemed to have only a slight effect on conditions. Turned out the rain was light - talked to skiers who skied during the rain on Tues who confirmed it. Most stuff was loose granular. Temps gradually declined during the day, causing minor firming up mid mountain. Oddly enough, as the temps dropped (and the moisture in the snow evaporated) the snow became slower. A brown spot here or there, a small patch of boilerplate. No real hazards to worry about. Pretty much everything open. Upper flying fox was trail of the day. North Peak had loosened up considerably since last visit, was easily skiable on all blues and blacks.
Suprising number of down and out skiers - yard sales, boarders taking tips. I was a bit suprised to see a substantial nr. of novices midweek. Parking lot was 1/2 full. No Lift lines to speak of.
Ah, for midweek skiing - they were allowing doubles AND singles on the Gondola! That's a first for me. Nastar course was fun again.
They had a bit of rain Thurs. AM, I see on Weather Underground, but missed the snow event of Thurs, at least as of 6AM.
All in all, for a sub-par weather year, conditions were good, certainly worth the trip.
I expect with dropping temps, the trails will revert to FRGR, which will make it pretty fast. Sharpen your edges!
