Eric had been chided for predicting "phenomenal" skiing for the weekend. So, I anticipated having some fun with that. At the top of The Double, I wrote in "Have a phenomenal weekend" on the whiteboard. Some new snow had fallen on top of the week's snowfall and I flew down Gazelle for trail check and whaddya' know, conditions were indeed outstanding. One could ski fast in the powder and still be in control. Second run was down Chipmunk - my new favorite Blue Heaven - and I found much untracked and great skiing. I carefully hit some off-piste shots and found good cover and nice turns. I was in the right place at the right time and got to drop the rope on Partridge and got untracked and found great coverage. I then found some good untracked in the braids off of Slalom Hill.
I had some great turns on Beaver and the top part of Paradise was closed which meant many ignored it in its entirety even though it was acessible via the Grandfather's entrance. Paradise had some great snow.
For Sweep, we were a bit shorthanded and Jon a Pro Patroller in charge trusted that I knew the terrain around the Double liftline to thoroughly sweep 3 trails simultaneously. So, I made some long traverses between Panther and Gazelle Woods to ensure no misfortunate skier was left behind.
After a presentation on skiing in Greenland, we went trolling for a place to watch the Patriots squash the Jacksonville Wannabes and foolishness (successful on all). I also heard rumblings of a possible 6" which of course I believed  .
This morning, the Nor'Incher did its deed to the tune of 1". Check was down Panther which was in great shape. I had a great time on Lower Glade and I was suprised to find great skiing on Creamery.
Later in the day we had an incident on Slalom Hill with 2 of our 3 newest and youngest patrollers playing key roles and doing a bang-up job - so well that by the time I got there, they were running the sled down the hill. I had to bring a sled to an incident later on and the same 2 patrollers showed up and ran the sled down to the aid room. The other newest/youngest patroller had excelled in 1st Aid practice the prior week, so we are have been well blessed with some reliable new young blood.
Sweep was down Quacky and Robin for me. It truly was a phenomenal weekend.
