On Saturday, I drew my favorite morning trail check run, Panther. It was fine except for that nasty persistent ice skating rink on the headwall. I spent a good part of the day doing some off-piste runs as the snow cover has finally reached a point where I feel comfortable in the woods. At around midday I showed some strangers a nice line that I have worked on in the past. I turned out that one of ?em recognized my name from the FTO bulletin board.
For Sunday, the BRUTAL GROOMER had come along a tractor road and pushed some snow onto the Panther ice skating rink, leaving a chunky debris field. So, Mr. Studley, Dr. Oliver and I among others had to spend a bit of time boot packing it. But, I was rewarded with some nice turns on Panther. Later in the morning, but I had to hurry up to a scheduled sled practice run on Fall Line. I needed this to get checked off on Single Person Running (no tail rope) and fully checked off on my practice requirements for the year. Randy and I discussed the fine intricacies of running sleds down Fall Line and he pointed out how running the right braid from the top would be quite elegant. So, I took his advice and did just that, getting a nice shot of adrenaline running over the steeeeep narrow little headwall before the merge with the Chute cutover. Miss Greenwood the examiner gave me some nice compliments on my run and I?ll leave it at that. I then had to hustle to my noon time stint.
The coverage is certainly there in The Holy Land. The anticipated storm will be heaven ? fresh deep pow on a healthy skier packed base ?..who could ask for anything more?
