Uh-oh ........Saturday, I was bummed out looking at the mountain starting to die. But, skies were sunny and the skiing was actually pretty good. The Double had mashed 'tater like snow while The Single had more corn-like goods. Quacky, Cat Bowl and Lower Glade were especially nice. At the end of the day, Fall Line started to freeze up and get coral reef like. Part of my sweep was down One Way which was hammered.
It was Telefest weekend and as usual, Dickie Hall put on a great day.
Sunday started out very warm with clouds moving in. We were also told that the mountain would be suspending operations for the week and with the possibility of new snow, we would plan to open the following weekend. Because of the strong likelihood of bamboo falling from the thaw and then getting buried under snow, we were instructed to take down 'boo during the afternoon.!
In the afternoon, it rained. It was actually fun skiing in the rain. It was also demanding picking up 'boo - The Great 'Boo Hunt. Sweep was down Quacky III and Periwinkle which had nasty wet ice floes and bare spots - entertaining in its own way, but an ominous sign.
Hmmm....skinning and grinning on Stark Mountain next weekend? ...or will the lifts turn? We're trying for the latter .....we're tryin'
Tough season ......but we've had fun.
