$21 weekend ticket at magic. the night before their online report said 100% open. i said, YEA RIGHT! well, folks... any other lesser resort would have roped witch, red line, and master magician... and probably about a half dozen other trails sporting huge bare spots ranging from half the trail to the full trail sans a three foot wide snow patch down the steepest part of red line and witch -- but not magic! everything was open indeed!

oh IT was GREAT! people were skiing everything, soft and occasionally undermined corn snow. not too wet and not hard to ski. if any one wants one last shot at magic, go quickly because a lot of their expert stuff will need to be roped by next weekend (unless we get a dump) unless people like skiing rocks and grass.

i had a few killer runs down twilight zone. up top was some of the best bump lines and fun snow i've skiied all year. both of the glades (twilight zone and goniff glade) actually held snow the best on the whole mountain due to lack of sun exposure and will probably make it till next weekend. not many bare spots (compared to usual) at all on these two beauties.

other expert terrain including master magician, red line, witch, sorcerer, heart of magician, trick, and even parts of non-expert terrain such as wizard were sporting lots of bare spots. occasional undermined snow, so i was listening for trickling water. most blue square and green circle terrain had excellent cruising snow though! really sweet! but going fast, especially sunshine corner which was getting bare and slushy.

even with only 4 hours of skiing, i had myself a ball. in any case, lots of bare spots showing and growing, but the snow is great! i don't think magic is gonna make it to april though without another big one or a drop back below freezing.
