We passed a wonderful weekend in the Charlevoix / Saguenay region !

It was my first visit on both mountains, but Mt Édouard was on my wish list since Marc Guido's article, 2 years ago.

Mt Édouard is quite less far than what I thought. Just 1 hour from La Malbaie (speeding a bit), so about 5h north of Montreal.

In the morning, the conditions were tough, cause of the rain in the last days and it didn't freeze, so it was very tough to ski in the ungroomed places, cause the snow was collapsing under our skis. But in the afternoon, with the sun, a good amount of skiers took many of those trails, so they were quite interesting to ski !

I had some big expectations for the trail #4 which is supposed to be one of the tough trails of the province. I took it as a first run of the day and I was even not challenged at all. A little double black, nothing more.

At least, there was some magnificient glades, even though they were more or less skiable, cause of the rain.

I hope to be back there in powder, next year
to enjoy all of the off-trails of the mountain !

For this time, at least, it has started my snowpark season, as I always lurk a bit on the big airs, when the snow is wet and the texture is not too hard.

We posted a lot of pics of the mountain, if you want to see it, just take a look to here :

http://www.zoneski.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1074&start=0

On sunday, were went to Mt Grand-Fonds. For a rare time, I was guided in a ski area... while I'm always the guide normally

The temperatures had dropped below the freezing point during the night and the weather was around 32F on the summit and a bit more in the afternoon. We got some very good conditions in the groomed trails, but it took few hours to begin skiing in the ungroomed ones and it was tough sometimes, as there was some places where the snow was collapsing and other places were hard pack. Not easy, paticularly in the super glade of the ski area, which is quite a long and steep one.

There too, we took a lot of pics, including few ones of me big-airing

Very nice day in general and it's not impossible to see me back on this mountain for the Easter weekend... not sure yet !

Here is the link for the pics :

http://www.zoneski.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1079&start=0

Next stop : next weekend : Val Saint-Côme probably !
