Pffffffffft!! Unlike my good friend Chris Bradford, we sent someone to the press conference (Frankontour from these very discussio boards). http://www.FirstTracksOnline.com/news/stories/106069129910131.shtm

Jamesdeluxe, which online rag are ya checkin' first, anyway?!

Oops... my mistake.

As usual, your articles sports far better formatting and pics. Since the ubiquitous Francois hadn't posted anything in the Liftline, I figured that he was busy cooling off in the water park at Saint Sauveur or something.

Actually, it wasn't Frank's fault - the delay arose from systems issues we were having. the \newurl(http://www.FirstTracksOnline.com/news.shtm,Ski News} section here was just updated this morning with nearly a week's worth of content.

Oops, Sorry, I also forgot to update the thread "news in the ski areas this summer" this morning.

Yes, it's enough fantastic. I should put here many pics of the conference and of the hybridexpress, as I have all the press pocket & all.

The article in french was ready thursday night, but I don't think it would have been quite popular on this board The english one (with my novice english) was ready friday at noon, but it needed a little edit by Marc to be more journalistic.

Some pics on the way !!

So here is some pics of the place

1st : their announcement pic... looking real good ;)

2nd : the chondola... this is of course a montage

3rd : The six-seater lift, with Nicolas Fontaine (x times world champion of Acroski) and CEO of Mt Orford André L'Espérance with 6 "skiers".

4th : An example of gondola, but the ones of Orford will be "silver" rather than yellow. The cabin was coming from Vermont, so I guess from Killington or so.

5th : A larger photo of the works at the bottom of mountain.

I can add that they blasted all the top of the mountain and I don't know exactly where the unload point will be, but I really hope they will still let us take the hairy supersteep top of "Super". There was another hill just a little above the summit of chairlift. It doesn't exist anymore... I should have taken pics, but the sky was quite gray / black, so I didn't spend too much time on top. (I even got a big shower on my way up, so...).

They're also clearing all the trails like in fall 2001, so the conditions on the extreme trails should be really good soon this winter. I hope that as they ± opened the "Chevreuil" last year, like a 2nd "Porc-Épic", they will clear it too, this fall. Cause if not, the trail just reach some top conditions in march, after serious snowfalls. So up to now, Petit Canyon, Escapade, Boisé and Passe de l'Ours (at least the end) have been cleared.

I was crying at origen, when I knew the departure of the old double chairlifts, but now, I admit that if they don't always open the Rapido, it shouldn't be so worst. I was also afraid to have a lift of 3600 skiers / hour, but with only 2400, it's not so bad. If they do a mid-station unload (which is not clear), it would be exactly the same uphill capacity than with the double chairlifts.
