The Presidentials are HOT right now. It?s Observatory to Route 16 and you can avoid a nasty little hole in the Cutler River right where it leaves the Floor of the Ravine by snowplowing down to Connection Cache and dropping into the streambed.
Anyway, we did a buncha? stuff on the right side ? linked together snowfields and gullies off of the Lion?s Head and got some incredibly nice corn, did a chute to the right of Lobster Claw and did Lobster Claw from the rim to the trail and it had outstanding coverage ??OK, how many out there have done Lobster Claw? It?s also known as Right Right Gully. It?s a nice long one that does not get too much attention. The problem is that is melts out early ?.but do indeed do it if you get a chance.
I saw a poor soul (a hiker) bowling ball the Death Train. The messiest one I?ve seen in a long time. The Tuck?s Air Force was out on bombing missions off of the ice cliffs and there were a load of wild crashes, too. It?s amazing the amount of speed they pick up once they successfully stick the landing ?..and come close to nailing innocent bystanders ? yikes.
The ski out down to Hermit Lake was a treat, though the bumps were a bit funky in the Little Headwall.
Today was an Edit-Copy-Paste of yesterday except a bit warmer though windier. Right Gully was wonderful from the rim as was the rest of the right side. Saw a girl take a nasty fall over an ice cliff, but she got right back up.
Again, the ski down to Hermit Lake was a treat and the Sherburne is fine all the way down to Route 16 with some easy user friendly bumps. On the way home, I scoped out the North Presidentials via US 2. Mount Adams has a huge amount of snow and Castle Ravine does have a seemingly nice line in it.
Keep in mind that I am understating the weekend!
