No Posin' at Greek Peak this morning 1/5/10

Just some real fine powder skiing.

Beautiful day and comfortable temperatures.

Skiing with my favorite ski bro, Acid Christ. He was as real as it gets today. No posin'...just skiin' the awesome fluff that has been coming off the lakes for the last week. It has really piled up and where there were no groomers is really sweet.

This is what inspired me to take the morning off from work

Everyone has a nickname for this guy. At Geek Peak they call him Traffic

A little backlit, but powdery

I didn't spent a lot of time taking photos. We were just enjoying time together on the lift and shredding powder when we weren't on the lift

Acid Christ found some running water to ski through

Here's a short video

You can check my facebook page today for photos and a short video. I'm at work now, so I can't post photos from here.
Speaking of Greek Peak posers, it sure takes a substantial amount of hubris for someone to give themselves the handle of "Powderqueen".

Marc_C you are wrong.

I believe Powderqueen suits me quite well.

When it is a powder day, I put my crown on and go skiing.

I go to Utah in pursuit of royally deep powder.

I am the only woman I know here in NY that owns skis that are wider than 90mm under foot. I have not ever seen another woman at another ski area in the east that has skis greater than 90mm under foot(though I'm sure they exist). I am the only woman I know here in the east that has actually bought (more than once) skis specifically for powder skiing. I believe I am the Highness of the High Fluff.

We may not get as deep powder as you do in Utah, and I don't want to start another E v W thread, but we do get powder, and like now, it is a very high quality fluffy dry powder that skis like a dream, be it Greek Peak, Snow Ridge or MRG. I don't need 132mm under foot to ski 4 inches of fluff and Marker Dukes to ride the lifts. That's posin for ya.

Neither of us were posin yesterday. Even AC got real. We skied where no one else skis and the powder was actually a foot deep.

Never did understand why they permanently closed that section of Atlas... Nice fun double fall line (though short).

Based on that pic, the trees off the ridge on the 'GP east' side would probably be in great condition if you position a car on the access road over that way. Is it also enough snow now for 'olymp' glade?

The snow we have has been falling very dry a few inches at a time. In the steepest glades, it gets skied right down to the forest floor. No solid base, so Olymp woods and east side ridge would not yet be good choices. Low angle is where it's deep, fluffy and skis like a dream.

Hubris ... is that like Hummus?

I say ... if he wants the title of Powderqueen, let him have it.

By the way ROCKIN AVATAR!

Nice pics and TR too. Glad you're gettin it.

I was under the impression that the Powderqueen sobriquet was ?? There are several EC Maggettes (off the top of my head, Tracy from Brooklyn and SheSkisTrees from northern VT) who are cut from the same cloth.

That said, I don't know anyone around here who packs in as much physical activity in one day as Sharon. She skied with me at GP for 3.5 hours and went x-c skiing before and after.

Not to digress, but I had to comment: SST & PQ couldn't be more different. SST is a friend of nearly 20 years whom I saw most recently when she and hubby (another good friend -- I introduced them) stayed with me for a week last summer. They're polar opposite types.

One cannot tell a person's real vibe, stature and ski style from posts in a forum. A person must be met in person for this. Maybe in the forums, we seem similar, but actually are polar opposites.

Yeah! Anyone who knows us from here alone might assume that both Marc_C and I are real jackasses. 8)

Only if high maintenance means that you need to take me to more powder stashes :-D
