day.5... the dominant color is really starting to show with the leaves off the trees , and the place looking good . i'd rate this as an average early season , i've seen better and also a lot worse !! i had funny feeling on the drive up canyon i wasn't going to be alone today . alta has begun making snow at the bottom of the mtn. for this season . and hopefully after the next storm cycle goes through they won't need to use them at all.....
this pic was taken from watsons looking up baldy shoulder the chute to lookers left in the pic is main chute . that individual was standing atop a snow drift about 95% of the way up the shoulder (pondering suicide) he stood there for a good fifteen min. then decided to ski down through the trees to his left , smart choice i'd say !
crowds were of helpful size as the snow got tracked up pretty good today .
found a place with a birds eye view !
by this point in the day the wind was howling up high as evidence the ridge line between snowbirds twin peaks .
even down canyon looked good , long nov. shadows beginning to show.
there were people in there skiing over boulder fields in ballroom .
