Okemo had a Ct Ski Council day on Sunday which was a $27 ticket and the well groomed flanks of gentle Okemo would be a good tonic for my wife who left Killington frazzled on Saturday. Okemo had their signature snow buffed to perfection, sun in the morning, light crowds and plenty of HSQ lifts to do laps off of. My wife enjoyed the ski day on the mellow Intermediate and can't tell the difference Expert slopes.
Okemo ropes off trails that certainly Killington and Magic would have added to their open trail count. I heard a boy ask his dad why that trail isn't open as it looked good. I agreed with the lad, but having had passes clipped on the first violation at Okemo before stayed on the straight and narrow (or wide and groomed). A good if not challenging ski day.
Okemo does look like they are struggling to get terrain open as Chief and Serle's Way aren't open yet. Perhaps opening low elevation stuff around Jackson Gore and Solitude has cut into their upper mountain snow making plans.
