Saturday was suprisingly cold, but the sun and clear sky meant long views from the summit. Mt Washington was clearly visible off to the Northeast.
Okemo had suffered with rain during the week, but had done a good job with snow making, with the exception of the base area around the lodge, but can't blame them for the rain and warm temeperatures. The summit had picked up a few inches of fresh snow and the faux snow was best at the top of the trails. I think the trail report indicated 21 trails open, so if you divide by three (my rule of thumb) there were about 7 trails open.
Light crowds which was mericiful as there weren't many trails to lose people on. I did manage to ski a couple of trails without seeing any others people besides who I was skiing with. The most challenging trail was skiing from the Northstar quad back to the base area as it was narrow and had some rocks to avoid.
A good day of early season skiing.
