Great day out with the family - slow speed day. Superbowl day diminished the crowds, though the pkg lot also looked full. Like rivercoil reported @ Cannon, people were bailing by 2-3pm. Same behaviour I see every year on SBS. Good day to catch some rays. Trails were groomed well. Happy to see a mogul run. Pretty typical conditions - PP benefited from the So New England snow dump, so base was good. Temps in the 50s caused everything to loosen up. Suprising amount of powder being pushed around. My kids got hooked on NASTAR racing - the course is much more difficult than it looked. They have a nice terrain park for the size of the area. I always like the prices here - on food, rentals and tix. No real lines to speak of, if you thing under 3 mins is no line. People were really getting whacked on the snow tube "runout" - it's a huge snowpile that's supposed to stop your momentum and push you back down. Trouble was, many people were shooting off the top of it , under the barrier fence and down the backside. One lucky customer got a free sled ride courtesy of ski patrol.
Good rental facility - big upgrade from a few years ago. Makes local skiing far more tolerable. Candybars only $1.00
Anyways, nice groomer trails everywhere, pretty much what you would expect. Everything open and in better-than expected shape. Plenty of room for beginners to low-intermediates to manuver without anxiety.
A much better place to take a family for a weekend day than wawa. Almost felt like going on a picnic in the park.
Little tykes loved the "glades" skiing which wasn't too steep, but full of bumps and trees. My daughter never screamed such screams of joy in a long time!
Oh yeah, don't forget to wear big boots for the trudge through the mudlot, er, parking lot at the end of the day (applies to any area actually.)
