Photo Orientation and Display

@jamesdeluxe could you work your magic on the photos please?
Just so you know, I'm not working any magic inside the XenForo forum interface. All I'm doing is downloading your pix to my laptop, rotating them, and reposting. Maybe check in your phone that they're being saved right side up? There's no reason that XenForo would flip them 90 degrees.

They are saved correctly on my phone and go to other places just fine including the Oz ski forum that uses the same software I believe.
I am nowhere near a PC.

I have to do this occasionally. Most of the time it's for photos that were migrated during the Nov. 2021 Xenforo conversion. Also, some older photos are only displaying as thumbnails at the bottom of the post, so I will insert them at full size.

However I personally have an issue with orientation on Microsoft Picture Manager, which I use to edit and crop pictures. If I'm not careful in orienting correctly before uploading, portrait pics may display as landscape.

Once a pic is on FTO with the wrong orientation, downloading to a PC, rotating and reposting is the only solution I know.

A best practice for posting pix on an outdoors forum: always take photos of landscapes (skiing, hiking, mountain biking, etc.) IN LANDSCAPE MODE, NOT IN PORTRAIT!!

Used to be more of an issue. The fix for iPhoto pics was to edit the pic, even if the edit wasn't really a change. Been a while since that was discussed on another ski forum. Apparently a recent update in July 2025 messed things up again. Supposedly will be fixed in the next update . . . coming soon.
