Started snowing at the trailhead about 8:45 this morning. The temps were moderate(mid 20's)and winds were light at the lot.Nice packed powder covered the Tucks trail. There was one spot below the summer route for Huntingtons which was fresh snow over glare ice that makes for deceptive footing.Other than that small stretch,PP prevails. The waterbars are now filling in nicely. The light winds have left edge to edge coverage on the Sherburne from the last couple of snow events. The big mistake of the day was bringing the Swissbob sled instead of my skis.My buddy that went today sleds and I felt as if I should sled too.Bad choice.Conditions on the Sherby were....no frozen cattracks, horray!About 3-4" of wonderful untracked fluff covered the whole trail and it was snowing moderately(1/2-3/4"per hour)with light wind(20's @ Ho Jo's)!Great for skiing but slow for sledding. There was one stretch by the cache' which was fresh snow over glare ice which was treacherous, other than that, skiing conditions are excellent!
I may hit Cannon tomorow. Not sure if I will buy a ticket or skin Mittersil.I havent skied a resort on a saturday in years.
((*
*))NHPH
