During their birthday week, Windham roles back the prices. For the fifth year in a row, a group of us from work have taken advantage of this had a great day skiing.

We arrived about 8:30 and the temperature was 0 degrees. By the end of the day, it was only about 10 degrees. Balmy, compared to some recent VT temperatures, but it seemed to keep the crowds away. We walked on the lifts all day.

The conditions were firm, groomed surfaces with some trails having snow made on them. Two trails had bumps, one, the wall, was too icy for my tastes. The other, upper wheelchair, was fun, with nice firm edgable snow for the top half, and some small, 'seeded' bumps on the lower half. Whistler had snow making in progress all day, but it had the best coverage. If you stayed away from the snow guns/towers the turns were really sweet. The trail with the most ice, again IMHO, was Why Not. It gets very little sun and gave me the most trouble. Definately realized that it was time to get the skiis tuned. Besides that, we skied most everything open and it was a great day to work on carving (where I could hold an edge).

Sean Mackey
