There was supposed to be a break in weather between storms, but Monday was cloudy all day with occasional sunny breaks but also on and off snow showers. Temps were near 20F at the base but no more than 10F higher up.

Sunday had been exhausting skiing not quite enough excellent powder over varied subsurfaces. Liz and I got out a bit late and took the Peruvian tunnel to Lupine, then Mineral chair to Mark Malu to get to Gad 2, where some of our Iron Blosam group were skiing. During a clear spell I took some pics from Road to Provo.

When Liz was taking a break I ran into Adam’s group including a new addition, Brian from Seattle. We skied trees skier’s left of STH, eventually dropping into the middle of the run. Brian went a bit farther than the rest of us and here is straightlining out of the steep trees.

Brian at left is hanging in there to avoid compression as he rockets into STH as Mark, Eddie, Adam and Ben observe.

Brian continued at high speed, making a GS turn across STH and into the apron below without blowing up.

I then reconnected with Liz, Stephan and Michelle. We skied Black Bananas in lightly cut powder, then went out the Tigertail gate. I had heard from Brian that lower Tigertail was a bit low tide, so I stayed skier’s right into an area Liz had found a good powder stash in 2019, eventually ending up near the bottom of Gadzooks. Michelle followed me but Liz and Stephan strayed too far left and ended up with a very slow sideslipping descent of Lower Tigertail with much shrubbery and variable snow.

Michelle and I rode Gadzoom and loading Little Cloud during a sunny break. By the time we got to the top the clouds had returned so the run on Shireen in Little Cloud bowl had good snow but some visibility issues. We got a call from Stephan and met them at the top of Baby Thunder. After a Gadzoom run we were all tired and decided to quit early in view of the promising forecast for later in the week. I skied a modest 12,800 vertical on Monday.
