Got up to the hill around 9:30 AM this morning, pretty damn cold.... it was something like 13 at the base I think, i do remember seeing -1 or -2 on the thermometer at the top of the quad all day.... and pretty heavy winds. I scoped out the gondola side and it was all very firm groomed surfaces, and the rest of the day i did laps on Nose Dive. Nose Dive did have some pretty good snow at the top and it was decent from halfway to the bottom, but still some bare spots showing through (and you could see bare spots beneath the quad as well). They reported a 5-7 inch 24 hour total, I *guess* thats possible, since I heard from a bunch of people that there was sleet for a while, and the wind was pretty powerful. I noticed that there wasnt really much hint of frozen precipitation on the ground both yesterday and today while driving once you got south of White River Jct or so, so being at least as far north as around where Montpelier is was probably the only place you could find any real evidence of accumulation. But like riverc0il mentioned there was definitely some crustiness, although the top of Nose Dive really wasnt bad - you could get some nice turns but youd constantly hit the boilerplate beneath it anywhere that was remotely windblown. I guess that cliff above Nose Dive kind of sheltered the top half of the trail from that wind. I didnt even check out the trees, since I was expecting it to be bare and crusty.
