Totally kick butt late afternoon of turn earning on the Gondi side at Stowe. Skin track up Gondolier and skied down Chin Clip which had some of the most amazing natural snow I have ever skied that did not count as a powder day (deepest pow was only six inches, generally 2-4" of fluff up high, lots of blowing). The snow base on the upper third of the ski area is phenomenal. The ground seems pretty well frozen too. Amazing skinning up a winter wonderland then turning around and seeing the valley in October color. Nuts! The snow began right at the parking lot, then an inch, then quickly two inches, and then most of the lower third of the mountain had at least 6" with more generally the rule. Well over a foot deep at mid-mountain, and it must have been at least 20 inches if not more up top. Original plan called for skiing down Cliff Trail then skinning up Rimrock and Nose Dive and taking a Front Four trail down. I swear Goat would have been skiable, but I had no more juice and wanted to save some leg for the weekend. I swear I will have four days in October before this month is over including Birthday skiing on Halloween!
