both places very disappointing.
stowe on wed. there is a reason why the prices were so cheap..don't kid yourself. they said something like 25 trails .. more importantly , they advertised on the web site , goat, national and starr as being open or half open.. just not true. national was open. liftline was half open. the lines were junk. best line was nosedive to bypass back to nosedive. the run out on wed from nosedive was going fast.. skiers right side had a couple of blues spilling out to gulch with ok bumps but not great. skiing from nosedive had a 150 foot walk. from the other side , no walk but it could have been as the snow was almost a swimming pool. our plan was to stay for 3 days... we got out of there and went to K
K on thurs and fir: on news of the big announcement of no spinning in may, we had to see if it was legit or not. as Jsul185 put it " no it's not legit- casue they didn't make the snow. ".. he is right. it's legit in that they will not be skiing there at somepoint this week becasue the snow is not there.. but clearly , they did not make the snow on superstar. superstar is about to break apart in three distinct locations.. the entrance to the headwall is going to go in the next 2 days ... about 250 feet in to the flat section after the bottom of the headwall is about to go and just above the lower headwall is about to go...it was unreal seeing how little snow was on SS... K called it something like 30 trails- it was 2 SS and bittersweet. bitter sweet actually had better lines but it too is breaking up in at least 5 spots that will require walking. it is what it is.. clearly something is going on from the top down and i would be just about ready to say it is the end of an era at Killington. And now they actually have the stones to put on the hardline shake down for the passes saying you have to buy by may 2nd for next year. it's really sad. we had three days of epic weather, blue sky and 45 to 60 every day... to bad we had no snow. new england should be skiing for at least 5 more weeks.
the weather has been tough for the resorts, no doubt. but what we saw at K this week, what a disgusting combo of a disgrace and a joke.
probably gonna hit bretton woods for a day on wed or thurs to finish up...( yes K is that bad that it's not worth the drive  ) and to be honest, after what i am seeing for rain , i will be surprised if they are spinning on the new announced closing date.
