Sugarbush 12/18/05

I hit up Sugarbush yesterday, and I was definitely impressed. I stuck to South (Lincoln Peak) so I can't vouch for the conditions on North.

I wasn't planning on venturing into the woods, so I stuck to the groomers for most of the morning. The cover was overall pretty good, with a few patchy spots. Where there was snow making, there was hardly a bare spot. They weren't even making much snow, except off the Valley House chair.

Eventually, I decided to venture off the cut trails and see how the woods were. I stuck to the trails off of the Heaven's Gate chair, where I figured the snow would be the best. The powder was on the heavy side, but there was a ton of it and there were hardly any tracks. Some of the best woods conditions I've ever seen at Sugarbush. I think people hadn't yet worked up the courage to hit the woods yet, much to my benefit. I hardly hit anything.

The season's off to a good start, though we could use a few more inches.
