5" of snow was reported since Friday. It has set up into a not-quite unbreakable crust covered by a "sandy" layer about 2" deep. It was quite skiable, but irregular enough that you thought twice about cranking up the speed or aggression level too much. Trails were open from one side of the resort (West Mountain) to the other (Ripsaw). All on-map glades were still officially closed.

Groomed terrain was fantabulous - edgable base with a soft fine granular surface. The skis were quite "quiet" in the morning, and not bad in the afternoon either.

Friday the patrol opened up a bunch of terrain - something like an additional 25 trails, and Saturday they opened another 20 or so, which brought the mountain up to 66 trails, or about 50% of their terrain.

I took a couple quick excursions into the woods either side of Hayburner, and while there was enough snow to cover most everything, quite frankly the snow on the groomed trail was more pleasant to ski.

Best day of the season for me so far. I expect with the right skis (full fats), Saturday may have been a bit better.
