The mountain lost a good 12"-18" of snow last night on natural-snow trails. Bare spots on Tote Road, Comp Hill, Hayburner, Kings Landing, Candyside, Whiffletree, probably more.

Ungroomed terrain is downright frightening right now - anything with any angle, at any rate - a fall could easily become a slide for life. Trails that hadn't received snowmaking yet are done too. Trails that have been groomed can't support much traffic - the narrow "choke" at the top of Candyside, for instance, was getting pretty glacial by the end of the day. Hopefully there is enough for the groomers to work with to till it into something that can stand up to more traffic.

On the up side, the guns were going on Hayburner and Kings Landing, and by the end of the day Hayburner was getting pretty damned good (for manmade).

Guess I really blew it on calling for there to be some changover on the backside of the storm.

Oh yeah, couple more things. I skied "ice" today. Solid water ice that you really could see through to the grass beneath. It is possible to arc a turn on it. New England ski party trick, I guess.

I also spent some time learning to make switch tele turns. I can sort-of link them on really gentle terrain. Yes, arcing on bulletproof does get a bit boring...
