Sunday River - 1/10 (Saturday)

Took a SkiMarket bus to Sunday River, expecting the worst from the cold and ice. Temps were supposed to be around -5F when we got there. To my complete surprise, it didn't feel that cold because there was no wind and I dressed appropriately. There was tons of man-made snow on Barker Peak, and a bit less on White Cap and Spruce. The powder was buttery-soft, not the granular stuff I found at other ski areas. The crowds were light for a Saturday and the trails didn't get icy until about 3pm. We didn't go all the way to Jordan Bowl but others told us the trek there is quite long and the conditions there were nice but not better than Barker.

Ditto that... I was there on Saturday too. Skied Barker almost exclusively. Sunday Punch, Cascade, Right Stuff were all in super shape. The upside of the cold temps is the dry powdery man made they've been able to blow in copious quantities. I usually can't stand Sunday River, but I've got to hand it to their snowmakers, they did a great job with a week of cold temps.
