WOW....... POW!!!

What can I say? I lucked out for once and hit the area that got a ton of snow! woo hoo!!

Started @ Barker, and made a few runs down to Sluice (ridiculously nice for a short blue connector) to Last Tango. Plenty of fresh untouched lines... we ventured along the peaks to Jordan, and then back towards Whitecap, just mixing it up and enjoying the day... \:D/

I was skiing with a group of varied ability, which did keep me from some stuff I wanted to hit... I'm usually gunning for all the tree runs, but the general vibe was outstanding as the sun came out in full force late morning. All of the blues became tiring to ski because they were complete mogul fields of nice, soft pillows. There was no rocketting to the lift to meet the gang (unlike Burke a couple of weeks ago!) So skiing with the group just rocked, and we kept with it, with occaissonal shots into the trees...

We did get in our Oz runs down Tin Woodsman, Emerald City, etc.... It was all so damned sweet, you can't pry the grin off my face (felt similar to the Sox sweep of the Yanks down at the Stadium last April... just smile and enjoy it!)

I'm trying to attach a shot of Spruce Cliffs... from what I understand, it's rarely/never open, and was only briefly Sunday AM before people took one turn and skied everything off the cliff. We had to poach it to ski it, but i'd heard some things, so I had to try... The picture doesn't do it any justice as far as showing the steeps, but many people elected to land on 'The Pillow' next to the trees left of Center. I was pretty surprised after skiing it that any area would mark it as a trail in-bounds. More like an ASC tactic to boast 'The Steepest Run in the East'...

Anyway, get up there if any dust falls this week. It'll be over soon, and we'll all be bumming out while mud season keeps us away from our mountains (hiking, anyone?)

thanks for the report troutbum! i ducked rope for spruce cliffs once a few years ago before i really became proficient at trees and natural snow conditions. suffice to say, it was a really stupid thing to do considering i had never skied it before and had no idea how bad the conditions were. add to that my lacking ability in the trees at the time, and it was essentially the dumbest thing i've ever done on skis and a lesson learned. it's definitely a wicked run.

posting this shot for troutbum as he's having trouble with the attachment tool. this shot is a helluva lot more filled in than the one i linked too, lol!
