Sutton, Quebec : February 20th New Snow

On the never ending quest to make first tracks , headed off to Sutton today to see what was left of the reported 6" that fell during the week. Arrived early to take advantage of the 4 hour morning ticket. We caught one of the first chairs and headed far over to skiers right . The snow from the week had been skied up quite a bit but still fresh snow in the isolated gullies and small ravines on skiers right . The big story of the day is that it started snowing heavily in the morning adding a few more inches while we skied . Poor visibility in snow and fog but great conditions. The best skiing skiing today was off the old double chair on skiers right . Lots of narrow chutes and drops through the trees that were filling in with snow . The camera broke so no pictures . Sure conditions at Jay were the same today.

Was the best skiing off to skiers right next to the old double?

OR

Was it off the old double on skier's right?

The best skiing, at least my favorite most of the time IS off to skiers' right next to the old double (the one next to old Poma line), but not necessarily off the old double on skier's right (Mt Echo's old chair). I'm keeping the numbers of the lift secret...can't give all my favorite spots without people going a bit a work.

For years, they've had a nice midweek deal... buy a full-day ticket at noon and you ski the rest of that day and the next. 1.5 days for the price of one.

Not a expert on the old lifts at Sutton but on skiers far right is a new chair where they have some steep shots however found this area tracked out (Like James Reported) so moving just to the left is a old double with side safety bars. It is on this chair we found some isolated gullies and ravines that were not being used. The thing about Sutton is to search around and you can find some fun stuff. We were lucky it snowed . Patrick, correct off to the right when getting off the chair.

On the morning ticket,it runs from 8.30 to 12.30 even though the signs say 12.00. We got mixed up heading back and ended up skiing to 1.00 PM so good stuff.

The first chair (old triple) is lift VII - far skier's right. Next one is the old Mont Echo double (lift V) above the Alpina trail. You realized Anthony, that the description of the old double with side safety bars applies to at least 3 chairs at Sutton (if they didn't change them recently). The old Poma line is where chair IV-Ouest is located.

Anthony - how much is the morning ticket?

http://montsutton.com/en/rates-and-promotions/rates.php

Until noon... $49 CDN for Harv and $0 for Neve. After noon, $46 CDN and still free for Neve.

I should have checked the map first :-) as we are talking about the same area , Chair V is the one I was making reference to . Yesterday's snowfall added up to 4 " which is about right as snow was falling at a good rate yeterday.
