What an AWESOME trip.

1600 miles (driving) 4000 (flying), 111,000 feet of vertical, 37 inches of fresh, first tracks 8 separate times, and lots of fun, I am back from Colorado and new Mexico. What a great trip.

I'll start with a ski review. I skied a new pair of Élan M12 Fusions in a 176. They were awesome all over the mountain. Worked well in 14 inches of fresh snow, in moguls, and on the hard pack. These skis are awesome, and I would recommend them to anyone. I got them after I had demoed many other pairs and manufactures.

Telluride- Awesome ski area, with all sorts of amenities. High speed quads everywhere. We skied it with 14 inches of fresh snow, and it was superb. The gold hill area was awesome, with enough cliffs and jumps to be had for everyone. My brother and I hiked to freshies numerous times in the prospect bowl. We skied mostly back country here, and it was excellent. I would recommend it solidly to anyone. A very convenient ski area. Number 2 out of 4.

Winter Park - A great ski area with tons of bumps. I had never seen so many bumps in my life. They were awesome, and they were everywhere. Skied bumps most of they day. Vasquez crique was closed bummer. Parsenn bowl was awesome with excellent moderately pitched glade skiing. A fun resort especially the above tree line skiing. 3 out of 4

Wolf Creek - Wow is all I have to say. 119 inch base depth. Holy crap. This place was awesome. I loved it. Tons and tons of new snow. It was every where. Albert face was where I skied most of the day. The waterfall area was also fun. With 52 degree chute tacking the prize for that area. I hiked the ridge line once, but it was fairly risky as I did not have an avy beacon. I skied the trees down on the far side of the ridge. The cat walk to the ridge was very scary. And there was a 50 mph wind on the ridge. It was the run of my life, so much fun. 1 out of 4. Ps wolf creek also had the best food of any ski area I have ever been too.

Taos- Fun, but not what I expected. It was a fun ski area but to crowded. Granted there was 7 inches of fresh, but there was lots of rocks and ice underneath the snow. Too bad 4 out of 4.

Here is the site for the pictures http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/salidacannon

If you want more in-depth information about any of the ski areas just e-mail me.

Porter
