tenney has put up an interesting summation of their plans for the summer and fall on the home page of the site.... i propose all the sick birds out there start e-mailing dan egan and let him know we will try and support him if he make a commitment to letting the public access the lifts and not just the local competitive school kids....and let him know that we want late season, lift accessed turns as well!!!!!! i think they are in the process of trying to figure out what the hell they are going to do up there.... maybe we can influence them a little!!!

Yes, that's a great idea (without exagerate on the e-mail flow neither)! But actually, I wonder how they'll make some snow with the actual warm temperatures. I don't know there (in the mountains), but here, 200 miles northern, it's about 70 in the nights... not below 60, so no snowmaking possible !

Nevertheless, I really hope that they'll be able to show to America that ski is possible in the East in summer

I remember reading on their website (or maybe it was on mentioned here) that the snow was manufactured inside a buiding then shut out via some hose. It mentioned that with that technogy, they need to find out the rate at which the snow would melt, so to have enough snow on the hill to last (the day?).

Yep, but at more than 60 degrees, with the pipe to throw it outside, it change in water, I *think*.

And effectively, they will probably have to make snow each nights to keep a snow coverage. I hope they'll have a monster success !!!!

According to the Tenney Mtn website, the Snow Magic system has arrived and there are pictures of it being installed, so it should be operating soon.

Gettin' better and better !!
July 3, 2003

Hmm... open today, but with the heat, it's quite looking bad... and no snowtubbing of course.

I wouldn't go there for so few, but when there will be more, it's sure I'll be back in NH for the first time in over 10 years.

Hmm, the first pic was on july 3, if I don't mistake and the 2nd pic was on july 4. Both on the snowmagic trail of Tenney of course... I don't know on what trail they did their little run. For the normal length and size of the trail, just look to where begins the snowtubing lane. The ski slope will certainly start at the same place. It's sad that it was so warm for this week... but this is a little bit normal to be over 60 degrees during night in this time of the year !!

The august nights will be quite colder for sure

HEY..... JUST 3 DAYS BEFORE YOUR FLIGHT TO BLACKCOMB !!!!!!!! (this will be a far better end of season than finishing at Loon Mountain, in my opinion ;) !)

yes, i anticipate epic conditions ( as far as summer goes ) in the glacier based on the reports i am getting out of whistler... the big thing about having an abundance of snow out there is the ability to avoid having to download from the top of the glacier on a lift and take a bus ride along the side of the mountain to get to the second downloading lift. with lots of snow, you can ski off the top of the peak down to the second lift, saving about 30 minutes at the end of the day ... not that just being out there is not a joy, but avoiding that bus ride is quite an attractive pro[position... the other thing about lots of snow is it can make the well known sudan ridge chute skiable of the top as well. for any greg stump fans this was featured in the blizzard of ah's movie from the 90's.... probably at the height of the old school scot schmidt/ glen plake /mike hattrup steep skiing phase. some wild footage of a steep skiing contest was shot by stump at the sudan ridge... a local named eric pehota won the contest in the film. i remember this watching this vividly because of how blown away i was at pehota's in run to the chute.. at the time , i would say the move was pretty rad... a simple 360 rotation ... but it was off the top of the ridge dropping into the chute, which on tape , looked steep as hell. i confirmed it was steep as hell 3 years ago at my first trip to w/b while i was peaking over the edge with my knees shaking... three years ago there was enough snow in it to ski it , not so for the next 2. i would have killed myself attemtping to ski it with a full pack on 3 years ago... i feel confident i can do it now so i am looking foreward to that!!!!

negative on that " blizzard of ahh's above.. the movie was stump's " groove... requiem in the key of ski " from 1988

I just hope it will be as good as your expectations !! (and I also hope that you won't forget your camera )

Anyone know what the situation is with the terrain park at Tenney, like conditions, etc? I'm thinking of taking a drive down from Montreal if it is looking decent....

-Sven

Hello Sven,

I think you have to forget that for the next 2 weeks. The Glacier snowpark will only reopen on july 26. I don't know actually how it looks for the tubing hill (which is still open), but I suppose that it's quite more white than the first weekend ! It's not impossible I go there on something like july 31 and august 1, to have skied in both month this year (I know I cheat ! hehehe)

Wow, look at the pics of yesterday. There is effectively quite more snow than the first weekend, but it's more looking like ice. (don't ask me what the hell is doing the deer there !)

A sure thing, looking that attract me quite more than the first week's pics.

Aug 2 looks like you can make some turns at tenney. As on there web site

I think they even want to reopen the glacier park on july 19... or july 26 at least. I didn't see August 2... could you send the link of the page where you found the information, if possible, please ?

Surely, go to the home page and watch that litte bar with words go across, wait a min or so and it says it.

Hmm, looks like I like the things complicated and not look to the obvious ones !! Thanks for the info. I guess they will remove the jumps & rails to let every skier take few real runs !! (short ones, ok)
