Day 43: Dust on crust, minus the dust.
Our first run was down from Red Pine to Tombstone via Chicane. Pulling up to a stop next to Public Relations Director Libby Dowd, I leaned over and told her, "You owe me a new filling."
With all deference to the superb Ops crew at The Canyons, there's absolutely nothing that they could have done about today, which was 30 degrees colder than previous days, overcast and spitting snow. Everything that softened earlier this week set up like a World Cup downhill course. Groomers sported impenetrable corduroy. Anywhere else would've experienced the exact same thing. It was just one of those unfortunate days that fortunately only comes once every so often. We should clear tonight and rewarm rapidly tomorrow, so this situation should be extremely short-lived.
I was skiing with Dowd, her intern, and three other journos. Our best skiing was on Alpenglow off Dreamscape, which we declared "didn't suck as bad" as everything else. We bumped into Patrol Director Jake Hutchinson skiing with Andrew McLean, and ended up dining in the new Alpine Club with them and photographer Jonathan Cracroft and several other journalists. Our best times today were unfortunately experienced indoors.
I was only using the cell phone camera today so photo quality is regrettably rather poor.
