Tremblant, Jan. 19 2006 - Death Cookies

After a rainstorm, or "wintry mix" as weather.com artfully terms it, followed by dropping temperatures, finally the stage was set for a day not unfamiliar to anyone that has spent any significant time at Tremblant - although the fact that it was "warm" out, e.g. not -35 C, was the one missing link. We began with a quick warmup run down Grand Prix, for some awesome first tracks... although we would mysteriously be getting first tracks all day - it was as if there were no tracks! Completely psyched about this mysterious untrackable "snow", the next run was down McCullogh... it was like floating on a cloud, I guess... if clouds were made of gravel and death cookies. Duncan had the sweetest fields of death cookies, and I arced some sweet turns through a whole bunch of em that were around 3 inches in diameter. The only drawback to death cookie face shots is that it hurts like hell. CBC proved to be the best run, with about 2 or 3 inches of fresh snow on top of boilerplate ice - although it was closed. The day was capped off with Windigo... it was definitely one of those runs that you're glad you took after you had a chance to have a beer...
