Resort or Ski Area: Tremblant , Quebec

Crowds: Not Bad overall light crowd

Liftlines:: 5 minutes at most

Spent the day skiing at Tremblant yesterday and can advise that conditions on the ungroomed trails with no snow making were packed powder with the odd rock or stump sticking out but no ice . The groomed runs that were open were scraped down to their artifical base Currently with the strike situation only 50 % of the trails are open and half the lifts. The edge section is closed and also the new south sun side. The best skiing can be found on the north side where the glades and un groomed trails were holding up fine . The majority of the vacation skiers stick to the groomed boulevards ( these trails had the look of rush hour traffic just because so many people are concentrated on a few trails) so we had the glades and other ungroomed terrain to ourselves. Snow is in forecast for the Laurentian zone Wednesday /Thursday so this should improve conditions overall. So fat the upper Laurentians have managed to dodge the rain that is casing problems to the southern ski areas in VT/NH/NY.

Nice to get a report from the strike zone. 5 minutes actually sounds amazing considering the amount of lifts running due to the strike. I guess alot of people are staying away.

Anyway they might be finally some good news for the region, employees and employer, the union was voting today on the conciliator offer. Intrawest last offer just prior to the New Year was voted down by 61% of employees.

According to a CBC report posted today to our Ski News section, an agreement has been reached.

I'm happy that it's over for everyone involved.

You got me this time, I guess I was too busy shopping around to look at Ski News section. :roll:

I'm confused the lifts are running but on the site it still says the snow school is closed as well as a lot of shops? Do they need to reach another agreement to open these up?

Employees have voted to accept the agreement. It'll take a few days to get them back to work.

Aaron , It is as Marc described , the strike is over and full service will resume this weekend . Over the vacation period they were averaging about 4500 tickets while normally they would sell 12,000 daily . As I reported earlier skiing was decent especially on the North side except for the Expo which still has a lot of rocks ( always does nothing new there ) Light snow now falling and no rain has fallen since the first days in Dec. 2005 so overall the ungroomed runs are hard pack, packed powder and new snow. As of now no frozen granular or ice. Groomers due to concentrated traffic become scraped down quickly to their base . Don't recommend these trails. Terrain park is also set up on North Side.
