Vail Resorts: Between Rock and a Hard Place - Park City & Vail

Some of Vail's setbacks are a bit tragic here
1. No new lifts at Park City.
2. No new employee housing in Vail.

Not sure how you move forward when projects to remedy issues such as crowding and lack of employee housing are blocked after previous approvals.

It's almost as tiresome as locals complaining about high speed causing on-slope crowding. Most new lifts do not run at maximum capacity and the benefits can be increased reliability, heavier chairs to run in higher winds, and increased spacing between chairs allowing for easier boarding/fewer stops.

As bad as Vail Inc can be, and as much as they struggled as a company this season, both of these cases are a whole lot of Nimby-ism and for town of Vail at least also being major hypocrites. But they also show the risks of Rob Katz (prior CEO) prior corporate methodology of extreme hard-press steamrolling both inside the company and in the community at these towns. Has to suck being the new CEO for now since she is getting the negative results, although its not like she was external to Vail Inc when she took over though either (eg she was part of the steamrolling machine under Katz for a long time).
