Cool and Ice, that pretty much sums it up.

Vorlage is in the Gatineau hills just north of Ottawa. Mountain is just a nice family area with little vertical. Normally I don't bother writing a report of my local hill, however I thought this might be of some interest for anyone wondering what the conditions might be north of the border after this long thaw and rain event. Conditions and hills in the Gatineau would be similar to the small Laurentians hills.

After +8c on Friday and rain on Wednesday, some on Thursday, rain again on Friday and mixed precipitation on Saturday, I knew what to expect (unfortunately I didn't sharpened my skis  ).

Ah yes, all this week's rain and thaw with -18c at 10am this morning in the Ottawa... The ski area probably borrowed the arena zambonis to prepare the runs. Hard and icy. Let's say my daughter didn't want to go back skiing after her lesson (which she spent part of it inside). It wasn't the ice the major problem for her, but the cold wind. Yes, on top of that it was windy.

However, anyone with sharp edges that don't mind hard race course conditions, would have been okay. As usual, the edges of the trail were less icy.
