It was that time of year again - time for the Thanksgiving Club to celebrate! .....did I say celebrate? Threats of rain and freezing rain never materialized, but WaWa's snowmaking firepower did materialize earlier in the week :D . Denis, JimB, ConnorB, Dana gathered and we were not disappointed - conditions were raw crap, like they should be for the annual Thanksgiving Club outing  . Dana and I skinned to the summit while the others were more intelligent (though not by much) and stayed at the lower elevations to make laps.

Winds gusted at the summit and Dana and I made our way down disconnected whales of sludge and slick grass. The latter was actually more skiable. Though, the skiing in general was about as pleasant as my anal - oops, I mean annual - prostrate exam earlier in the week (that friggin' doctor just had to do more exploring than usual - aaaAAAAAAAAAAARGGGHHHH!!! ) Dana was actually able to stand on top of 2 foot high standing weeds encased in sludge  - amazing durable snow they make at Wa-Wa. As we got closer to the bottom, my skiing improved and I got faster on the slick grass - I lamented that I was getting "Base Lodge Fever" which is in contrast to "Summit Fever". As we all left, I sang out that old Eric Burdon song "We gotta' get outta' this place" 8) while Connor pitched a snowball at Dana. I told Connor that we were sorry and we'll make amends and take him to Mad River one of these days.

At least I'm no longer a wuss as I got in my first day ........was it worth it? Hell no.

Hah, I beat you by two days, and had even worse conditions. But alas, you are a lot better at telling an awesome story. At first I was kind of mad about the conditions I had, then after about 10 minutes I just found it pretty funny. Skinning up from the base was pretty sweet. I found out the hard way that ice covered grass is not good for skinning, but grass and dirt are pretty descent. Also, I got to see that guy who has a blog on Wawa's site. He even wrote about how he went for a hike and saw a dear, and snowmaker. Why wouldn't he mention the idiot who tried to ski on a 100 ft. long patch of nice.

Anyway, sweet TR.

BTW, I wouldn't really said they made "snow" more like Conifer was hit by the worst ice storm in massachusetts history.
