The weather forcast looked pretty good except for the word 'breezy'. Breezy at most mountains can mean a gale at Wildcat, butI had a back up plan and headed North. Rt 16 was sloppy and the fresh snow was a good omen.

The sun was out at the 'Cat, Mt Washington's summit was in a lenticular cloud, but there was only a breeze. I made the second chair and had first tracks down Wildcat. There was knee deep powder on the edge of the trail and it was fantastic.

This was one of the best days at the 'Cat in a long time, glades were good, ropes kept dropping on the trails and the bumps were forgiving. Not all the trails were open as a lot of base is required for some of the steeper sections of the Gondi line and summit lift line. What an excellent day for skiing.

Wildcat did have lift problems which slowed the summit lift at 10:00 AM and they were only loading three people at a time. The problem was two fold from the evidence I saw: electrical issues forced them to run the diesel and a bearing problem (my guess) forced them to load only three people at a time. This was actually an advantage because it reduced skier traffic off of the summit and the triple that goes 2/3 of the way up was ski on.
