cat on wed... they weathered the rain pretty good imo.... pretty much all open cept the bottom run out directly under the lift....we skied the usual three lines at cat... starr line- lift lion- and skiers right side of al's folly to catenary... killer corn ... lines not seemingly as good as in years past but still it was a classic cat in the spring day.. temps up to about 50 and bluebird sun... the snow was admittedly a little top heavy as they really got soaked .... rumor is the 24th is the date, but the lack of crowds has us speculative of that....outrage of the day- wildcat has a new policy of not spinning past 3:30pm on weekdays... this is an absolute outrage and shows a total lack of concern about the consumer.... when the best lines of the day usually don't become skiable till 10 30 or so, this policy is even more of an outrage.... it is indefensible    , and they should be ashamed of themselves... ski areas operating after april !st should open at 10a and spin till 5p....
loon on thurs and fri- they to a pretty good hit from the rain for sure.. the west side quad was still spinning and will shut down after today ( sunday)... they plan to spin the g and the np till next sunday... coverage on lower rum bumps was still pretty good, but they smashed the lower section after the speakeasy cut in becasue the skiers right flat section had opened up .. the lines were pure rollers on rum though and made it really challenging.. ( to bad the ski school dictator felt a reset was not in order 3 weeks ago... would have made a world of difference on both rum and flume bumps which were also pretty tough ) it was an epic 2 days in terms of weather, - blue and sun, 50 f , and crowds and snow.. the lines- we will call it just good... spots opening up on upper flume.. w boss was still pretty well covered....uppper rum was opening up in spots also... all trees are shut down... pipe is dying fast with spots opened up on the bottom... park is still open with some 40 footers.... it was empty...that's good and bad as we all know....the mystery continues.. november -long liftlines- face mask- crap snow / april - no liftlines- no face mask- killer snow :?.....got back on a zipper line and crashed pretty hard- thought i broke my right femur, but it seems just bruised...might have to take this week off as to not put K in may in jeopardy, but if i go it will be wed and thurs from cat and loon for it's the wrap up

i can't believe i forgot this: has anyone else noticed that they dumbed down lift lion... a major grading/ rock pulling out must have happened over the summer when they pulled out the last lift towers as upper lift lion is now nothing more than a blue cruiser  ... they did seem to blow more snow on it as it was clearly the deepest base on the hill... some parts of upper l.l. had my ski pole all the way in with probably another foot to go....

RE: people skiing in november but not late march into april....

perhaps the ski area marketing folks need to kick it up a notch. we all know other spring time activities compete for peoples' time, but when the skiing is great, everything is still open, and it's warm with no clouds... people shouldn't be calling themselves skiing if they would prefer to wash their car  i know, i know... there are a lot of casual skiers that don't get out very often. but joegm is spot on the money in asking why not now when it's stellar instead of when it's miserable and not much is open? a mystery indeed.
