Windham Easter Eve

I worked out early this morning and was planning on hitting the slope, that's right, one single trail was open yesterday at Greek, Odyssey. Well, I thought I'd better call the conditions report. Good thing I did, closed for the season. What to do? I headed for the Catskills. My original plan was to hit Hunter and enjoy the scenery that 85 degree temps and a pond skimming contest no doubt would bring out. Since I would only have two and a half hours to ski, I thought Windham would be a better bet to actually get some skiing in. I was not disappointed. What a surreal experience skiing in shorts and a tank-top in 80 degree weather is. I took the quad to the summit and headed for the mid-mountain quad. I love that chair, I think it's about a three minute ride.

It was a great afternoon of skiing. $25 for 10 runs, I couldn't ask for more on my probable last day for 2009-2010 season. It's cool seeing motorcycles in a ski resort parking lot. It'd be fun to ride to a resort in the Spring and just rent equipment once there. Saw probably close to one hundred bikes on the roads during my trip. Guess it's time to trade in the skis for motorcycles, mountain bikes, and canoes. Actually did a 23 mile canoe trip Friday from Virgil to Chenango Forks on the Tioughnioga River . Saw an eagle flying with a fish in it's talons, didn't get a pic of that but.

Let's see, if I leave at two I should be able to catch the gondola for the sunrise service at Stowe. Hummm.
