 OMG, I'm beat. I think I rode the deepest powder I've ridden in 5 years. They opened the Alberta Lift at 11:00am after a few really nice and loud explosions. they were only reporting 16 inches from Fri/Sat, but as no one had ridden the area the snow was almost too much. As Sharon said in here report there was no bottom. You had one option, go fast and don't stop. :) I got the joy of riding with one of my best friends who drove in from Durango to meet me there. Our best run was hiking from the alberta lift in toward alberta peak. We surfed the deepest lines and then dropped over a lip right into where they had triggered a slide. It was so cool to see the huge angular blocks of snow and to just rip right through it. :D Scared the **** out of my when I droped over the lip. the bottom 5 feet of the slope was missing with all the exploded snow below it. Luckily I flowed right through without any trouble. The only minus was it got damn cold around 1pm when the sun ducked behind the clouds. Anyway, I'm beat with a big fat permagrin glued to my face. Finally POW POW POW :) Night.

Avi debris? Ewwwwww!

Luckily it was small and I had my speed. I would love to see a big slide when they let it loose, from a great distance of course. The snowpack looked really unstable all over. Tons of small cracks, etc...

Love the new avy forecasts from utah. Sounds like you guys have a really good program going out there. I would love to hear Jeff Lowe and others talk about their experiences.

I just positively despise skiing avi debris, myself. My attitude is, "Why ski that junk while this line 30 feet over here is perfect?"

Thanks -- I was a bit concerned about cluttering up the forums with a daily automated posting, but I like the way it sums up the current situation and addresses weather as well. I'd also given thought to posting them to a separate forum, but it integrates incredibly well with other postings showing what's going on around here conditions-wise.

And yes, the folks over there do a bang-up job!
