23 inches of Colorado snowfall will make for some very rocky skiing. But they should get more from the storm that went through SoCal Tuesday night/yesterday morning.
I flew home from New York yesterday. I was looking out the window to see how much snow there might be, and because I can generally tell from the air if I fly over a ski area which one it is. I identified Monarch as we crossed the Continental Divide, with the large cluster of 14ers just north of it. There was almost no snow at Monarch and just patches on the 14ers. About 10 minutes later there were clouds that were seldom interrupted all the way to L.A. There was short break over the San Juans, and there was much more solid cover there than at the Divide.
No view at all of SoCal mountains as the storm was still lingering there. I normally don't go to the local areas for just handful of early season runs, but for October I may make an exception this weekend.
