Okay, we don't get to brag very often down this way, and I know we fell well short of the 60" jamesdeluxe enjoyed at Plattekill, but Canaan Valley, 500 miles south of New England, somehow received 20" plus of dry snow from the same storm. It never rained or sleeted and the temps remained below freezing.

With 108 inches in the month of February, I'd guess that there are few places in the U.S. that had as good a month. And it's supposed to continue this week. Here are a few pics from 2/27/10.

Very impressive!

I spent the day yesterday skiing with a friend who's an instructor at White Grass. I wonder if he wishes he was at home?

sweet, looks like you had the place to yourself!

I waited maybe twice all day for a chair or two. 90% of the skiers were on 3 or 4 trails. It was sunny and warmer in the "nearby" metro areas, so I guess people are starting to think about spring.

Let's see, the Wasatch or the Alleghenies, the Wasatch or the Alleghenies? I don't think so, but just in case he's homesick, it looks like White Grass should have an extended season this year.

That's the maximum for one month (Feb. 1998 and Feb. 2001) for the average of SoCal ski areas (fits Mt. High the closest). Baldy/Waterman typically run about 1/3 above that average.
