We skied Eldora today, 42-inch base and 100% open, almost 100% of blue terrain groomed plus both Corona Face and Muleshoe black diamonds groomed too. They had a decent crowd, maybe 8 rows of cars in the upper parking lot, cover was really good, though I heard that the glades were getting pretty skied-out. Threw about a dozen runs on Corona Face and Muleshoe, a couple each on the Indian Peaks quad and the main mountain. Muleshoe is a great wide mid-steep black diamond with a steep drop through tree islands on the lower half. it runs about 1400 feet vertical drop, Corona Face is a wide and steep black diamond that runs over 1100 feet vertical then breaks-off into 3 different narrow trails to the bottom, for about 1500 feet vertical drop. Lower Ambush and Lower Diamondback were in great shape, as was Jolly Jug and La Belle Dame. Nothing like wide uncrowded groomed trails so that I can let my 210s run!!! It was sunny and not a cloud in the sky, at 1:00 PM the temp was 39 degrees. We only skied maybe 4 & 1/2 hours, got over 20K vertical, with my 4-pack today was only $30!!! We left a little early to beat rush-hour traffic in Boulder, skied from 10:00 to 2:30, with a bar break in the middle.

Best yet, Southwest now flies from Detroit to Denver nonstop for a decent price with 2 free checked bags, and there is plenty of decent price lodging in Boulder, just an hour drive from DIA, lots of good nightlife there too. In Nederland I recommend the Wild Mountain BBQ and Brewery, it is just 10 minutes from the parking lot at Eldora.

Eldora's tenative closing day is Sunday, April 11th, and they are having a big microbrew party there Saturday, April 3rd. Hope to see you there!!!
