Skiied Turoa for 4 days and had a typical Mt Ruapehu 4 days.

Traveled the 3 hours from Wellington to Turoa and managed to catch a great afternoon in the sun. there was great spring snow on the Upper Mountain but very limited on the Lower Mountain.
Firday was another classic spring day with blue skies.
Saturday and Sunday brought with it mixed conditions form blue skies to rain and on Sunday, gale force winds.

Altogether some nice spring skiing and reasonable Ruapehu weather

Thanks, it definitely give a better impression of what the place looks like.

Thanks again.

Turoa is the largest NZ area I have not skied. Whakapapa was my first ever September ski day in 1982.

Ruapehu gets more snow than the South Island lift service and stays open longer in the spring. The latter could also be due to 3/4 of NZ population living on North island.

But these areas are often closed or severely restricted by wind or visibility.
