I didn't take many pictures here but overall I liked the resort. I drove to Kelowna from the Portland, OR area and picked up my friend Darren from the airport and then from there we drove up to our Airbnb adjacent to the Attridge chair at Silver Star. The resort had received a few inches of snow in the days before we arrived but like all of Western North America this has been a sluggish year for snowfall with above average temperatures. A few inches of snow fell throughout the days we were skiing as well which made for some nice fun snow on the groomed trails. We found the best skiing to be on the backside of the resort on the Putnam Express chair. The terrain here looked really fun when there is fresh snowfall but we mostly stuck to the groomers because it was fairly firm and thin off piste. This was a warmup for cat skiing at Keefer Lake Lodge. We drove to Keefer after skiing the second day (about a 2 hour drive).

Leaving the Airbnb before the first day of skiing.

The accommodations here were quite reasonable and there were lots of ski in/ski out options. Overall a very nice place, especially for families. I think the biggest downside was that there were not too many dining options.

Not just in the village, but I was disappointed when I went there that there was nothing outside of the small sit-down only restaurant at the top of the backside. I would have much preferred at least a small grab and go for a sandwich or something be available as well.

I avoided the limited dining by staying in Vernon and just driving up though. Cheap as possible hotels in the winter down there, though with the 30 min drive each way as a penalty.

Their sister resort, Big White, also had a lack of good dining options in the village when I was last there in 2020. I am planning to return to Big White next year for a family ski holiday prior to another cat skiing trip, hopefully that's improved. Another limitation between Big White and Silver Star was the lack of a real grocery store in the village, both of them have a very small bodega style grocery store only.

Ahhh…so that’s why there was a line out the door last week when it got cold! I never went in there, but cafeteria style dining would make more sense in that location.

More amenities would be nice, but that would require more crowds (especially midweek), which thankfully the Okanagan region doesn’t have. Thankfully for SS, as EMSC noted, Vernon has lots of options and is only 30 minutes away.
