Conversion from phpBB to Xenforo

I procrastinated through the entire ski season (all 12 months of it!) before attempting any changes to the non-Forum sections of FTO, accessible by clicking "Home" at upper left of Forum pages.

Last week I started work on that, with guidance from Xenforo Marc when I hit roadblocks due to being a newbie WordPress user.

Key changes:
1) Before leaving for Europe in August, I published two articles in the "Home" category from my website, the 2021-22 Season Summary and an update on the persistent and now strengthening La Nina.
2) The above did not change the photo headers and links on the home page, all of which referred to content prior to last November's Xenforo conversion. Xenforo Marc cleaned those up last week.:eusa-clap:
3) I replaced the News category with a Bestsnow category, which has drop screens linking to key pages of bestsnow.net.
4) I reworked the Conditions category to link to what I consider the most useful snow reporting/weather forecasting sites.

I'm pleased that almost no content has been lost from the former FTO. The Features category is untouched, and even though those articles are old, I view them as "evergreen" content, still useful info on the resorts many of us have visited. The massive (2200 pages worth!) of old News content assembled by the former admin remains online in the Home category below the two new posts I made in August. Even though most of that is stale, I see no reason to remove it.

Other categories have not been updated yet, but they are less important. Former admin's SkiMap link is broken, and since I'm a map junkie I'm not removing the category until I track him down and find out what that was and if it's worth restoring. In the "Download" category, the 2015 version of my Google Earth kml file is still available. I'll try to get the most recent version up there before too long.

I can't remember how many years ago you and I significantly updated the SkiMap. Weren't you the one who added all the "new" ski areas that we identified?

James is referring to the Google Earth kml file. Guido first did that for North America in 2007. Then I expanded it worldwide in 2015 with considerable assistance from James. I have made occasional additions/corrections since then. The 2015 version is still downloadable from the FTO Download category, but I hope to update to the most current version.

The SkiMap displayed under that FTO category was a two dimensional North America map created by Guido. I do not know its format, whether it was zoomable or how accurate it was.

James you should be a moderator here. You kind of are one in action, just not permissions.

You can leave the Admin'ing to Tony and me.
