    Ski-Air Travel

That's how flying to China from the east coast went for me. I would turn the long flight, usually from Detroit or Chicago, into two "short days." Idea was to get at least 4 hours of sleep after the first meal. Then stay awake the rest of the flight. My father didn't worry about jet lag at...

I know people who take Benadryl or Melatonin when they fly. I need dark more than anything else. So I always have good eye shades with me on flights. Lately been using a Trtl neck wrap after trying assorted other options.

I'm like @jamesdeluxe . When I was doing business trips to Europe, no problem getting plenty of sleep on the red-eye going to Europe. Helps to be petite. Usually changing planes in Newark. Could do a full day of work after arriving in the morning local time. Most of those trips were less...

Bridger Bowl, MT March 2 and 3, 2026

Well worth a couple days when in the vicinity to ski Big Sky. I always ski at Bridger before or after a Big Sky stay. The trip when Bill I caught a powder storm, there weren't long lift lines the first day. However, there were plenty of school age kids. I learned from a grandfather that...

    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

For Alta, I'm more inclined to look at temp forecasts from OpenSnow. I get there on April 5.

    Ski-Air Travel

There are situations when going with the flow of the universe means not traveling at a given time assorted reasons. From my home airport, I can fly non-stop to three airports in Europe. Looking for a bargain on airfare is not part of the planning process. My friends who live in NYC...

    Northeastern U.S. Weather & Conditions

Several years ago I did a ski safari based in the Berkshires to use Indy and picked the Pres. Day week on purpose. Before that trip I didn't realize how close Butternut was to Catamount. I'd skied Jiminy Peak and Berkshire East when my daughter was in school in Boston for three years. During...

    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

The Aussie father who spent the entire winter based with the family at Winter Park for the 2024-25 season got his first tasted of Telluride recently. He brought his daughter for a month of training, again based at WP. She was training while he had a good time powder hunting. Posted March 9...

    Eldora, CO 2025-26

Reasonably qualified but not that much experience running a community non-profit. The problem for Mt. Ashland has been lack of snow more than any other issue during his tenure. An old friend who is a business owner calls Ashland his home mountain. Gave me and my daughter a tour when we...

    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

In general, school springs breaks in N. America are spread out over March and early April. So the period that includes Easter is nothing like the holiday period around Christmas. For that matter, in the USA the week of Pres. Day is probably busier in many destination resorts than around Easter.

    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

Since Alta is where I ski in April, I look at the Season Totals graph comparison with other seasons every so often. The low season within the last decade seems to be 2021-22. There was a longer period with essentially no new snow, but the total as of early January 2022 was over 100 inches more...

Inbounds avalanche Feb 26, 2026 at Stevens Pass, WA

From the description on the GoFundMe campaign set up by his daughter: " . . . She [mother of poster, wife of skier] proceeded to explain to me that my dad had gone up to Stevens pass by himself for a powder day and that his location on find my iPhone had not moved for the past 3 hours. She let...

    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

I know a southeast senior skier who wants to ski somewhere with decent snow in late March. Just got home from a month at a beach area. Anywhere in the USA or Canada is probably fine. Don't think Europe is an option. Experienced former instructor and ski patroller who is not pushing hard...

    Project 101: USA Road Trip

Thanks for taking the time to engage in this thread. :) What is the original language for your blog? What I see is a French title with German text. Of course translation is available into many languages. Just happens that French is the language besides English that I studied enough to...

    Europe 2025/26

Or the marketing for European resorts on Ikon and Epic is starting to register with Americans who have a passport. Makes me think of Australians who only ski at Epic resorts in the USA because they can use Epic at home.
